Its old news that I'm snowed in again, but its noteworthy to make mention just how snowed in I really am. When last I checked, we had about 26" of the white stuff. That is a "HEAP" of snow. Obviously I've got a little time on my hands and I started thinking and decided I needed to make an entry on my blog. I thought to myself, I haven't really discussed the reason I'm blogging.
I'm planning to take a trip to Greece this summer. I'm going to help my good girlfriend Jacqui celebrate a big birthday. I'd like to lose weight and to be comfortable enough financially to justify such an extravagance. Either of those is a tall order but both is another thing all together. I say all that to say, I'm excited, but not certain I'll be able to pull it off.
Now I know that I must: believe to receive, speak that thang, keep my eye on the prize, reward myself, know tomorrow is not promised, stay focused, stay positive, believe in myself, believe in the Lord, believe if I praise enough or pray enough, I'll be fine. I know all of that and I could've added much more to the list. BUT, walking in what you know is the trick. Like many people want credit for the fact that I know. The truth is,it takes more than knowing, I have to live it out in my thoughts, in my attitude and in my actions.
Thought is where it starts. My blog helps me stand back and look at what I think or believe. If I really believe it believing is power. Believing is power! The fight is not against chocolate or the bills and obligations, but we are asked to fight the good fight of faith. It's work to continue to believe in spite of...In any fight you want the power. The power is in believing.

Self-serve(ing)
In again. Snow has come to the DC area and so once again I'm in. I really like it when something happens like a snow day and the world slows down. The thing is, I know a lot of people that like it when the world slows down. I'm not sure how we got to the point that our world was moving at the speed of sound, but I do know that many of us wish it didn't. But because we have to have what "we" want faster, with more convenience, and we want to be in control, our world is going to forever move faster and faster. That's the path we've set ourselves on.
The thing is, so much of what we want in life, ultimately leads to unintentional consequences. God is always trying to show us that all that giltters isn't gold. But we can't tell the future, Actually, we tend to be pretty selfish and so we can't see past what we want to even bother to look into the future. Consequences are waiting for us whether we see them coming or not. Sometimes we see those consequences pretty quick. Kinda like when people who can't eat spicy foods lose their minds at a Mexican restaurant. Sometimes our actions, wants and desires have consequences that are visited on generations to come. The cheap methods of getting rid of waste for large corporations back in the day have given us a modern day model of how to corporately "getting over" and pollution we're still trying to manage, never mind reverse. I guess I want to try to, as a friend of mine says, "walk it out" to the end when I making life decisions.
Today's life lesson might be...to be self-serving serves no one, lease of all you.

Which way??
In the words of Miss Celie from the Color Purple, "Thank God I's here." That's kinda how I feel about finding myself BLOGGING. I thought, I'm sure to enjoy it because I've always enjoyed journaling, however, I never had to censor myself. Really telling it like it is makes journaling, liberating, makes it cathartic Journaling allows you to get out of your head but still allows you to be alone with your thoughts. This is different. While I'm obviously impressed with myself for getting here I'm left with the nagging question, "Now what?"
Should I ignore those who will view this and continue to talk to myself, or should I consider them my audience and address them? I just decided this minute...both!
Direction is pretty important on a journey, and since that is the theme of this blog its good I've determined what direction I'm going in. I think that is my lesson for today: You'll never make it to your destination if you start out going in the wrong direction. Can I get a witness? (Now there I was talking to you)

Wasn't easy
Whew,
Just finished getting this party started. As with everything on the computer my perception is that it's going to be hard. Thankfully Brie-Brie was willing to hold my hand as I tried to launch this Blog. I know I shouldn't need it yet I do. I'm still certain there are things I won't be able to do on the computer, but when I sit down and try to do it, I find that I can.
Trying has an amazing affect! If one will just try, much can be accomplished. This blog is about the journey and how important each day is as you walk through this life. It is especially important if you have goals and want to accomplish something. My lesson for today is: Nothing beats a failure but a try.
